Alone in the Theatre

Amy visited last week and we got to take a nice break from studying. Aside from getting some good food, we people-watched on melrose and checked out the Long Beach Aquarium of the pacific. The aquarium was actually really neat, and really colorful. We even got to pet sharks and stingrays (we thought this was a little dangerous) and it was pretty interesting. I forgot to charge the batteries in my camera, so I don't have any pictures. doh! Afterwards, we decided to hit the movies and saw "Alone in the Dark" starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid.... It may be the worst movie I have ever seen, (yes, worse than "Adrenaline") and should have been called "Alone in the Theatre"... Apparently, other people got the memo on this one. Anyhow, here's a
pic of the star of the flic, moments before he realizes his career is virtually ending. (we all could smell it)

In an effort to ignore studying, we went to the Home Depot Center to watch Korea (red) versus Sweden in international soccer. The game was pretty exciting and we had pretty good seats. The game ended in a tie 1-1, which was kind of a bummer... Korea apparently hasn't won a game in the city of los angeles in 16 years. (they play hear each year to prepare for the cup) Anyhow, time to hit the books! (yeah right)

A peaceful dawn at Venice Beach, and after a busy week with friends visiting from back home, I'm finally getting into the trenches for school. The last week and a half has been filled with more TV activities than I thought possible, and we don't even own a TV here. Last night Tim, his girlfriend Alicia, and I went to the tonight show with jay leno. We showed up just in time for the show, and lucky for us they had 3 spaces for us in the front row next to Kevin Eubanks! (Tim's head was on the camera for most of the show) =) The show was pretty funny, and Steve Irwin brought all kinds of animals from Australia that ran around the stage just a few feet from us! (A giant snake made me pretty nervous, as a woman was holding it off camera just a foot or so away from us) I swear she didn't know how much of the snake was behind her shoulder staring at us! anyhow, now it's time for studying... and next week will bring some more friends too. (And my girlfriend!) This place is a circus lately!

Tony and I went to a filming of the "Price is Right" show today and sat a few feet from Bob Barker. He's in his eighties now but still a pro. Here we are with our nametags from the show and some brews. The show airs on feb 16th on CBS. Afterwards, we hit the farmers market on fairfax for a couple drinks and headed back to the studios for a filming of the Late Late Show with Craig Fergusson, which was fun too, though our hands hurt afterwards from all the applause they force out of you. It aired last night, feb 14th AM, and we were sitting in the 2nd row on the far right.

Amy and I worked on this 1000 piece puzzle of the "New World" circa 1600. It took us quite a while to finish it, but on my last night in MI we stayed up til' 4am to finish it together. I swear it haunted my dreams, but it was fun getting all those pieces to fit together.
